Founded in 1908 by Ole Ferdinand Bergan, Bergans of Norway has been a pioneer in the development of outdoor equipment and clothing. Today, Bergans symbolizes Norwegian ingenuity, and as they chart new terrains and explore unmarked trails, Bergans is choosing Brink Commerce for their next steps on this adventure.
"Bergans has a rich history, deeply rooted in the love for the outdoors and a commitment to quality," says Espen Jensen, CIO at Bergans. The brand is renowned for its innovative outdoor gear, designed to withstand the harshest conditions. From the snowy peaks of Norway to the hiking trails around the world, Bergans has been a trusted companion for adventurers.
Bergans offers a wide range of products, from clothing to tents, all designed with the utmost attention to detail. "Our products are built to last; we take pride in that. It's not just about the initial purchase; it's about creating a long-lasting relationship with our customers," Espen continues.
A major focus for Bergans is sustainable materials and ethical supply chains, ensuring their products serve the consumer and respect the planet. Espen says, "Sustainability isn't just a buzzword for us; it's a way of life. We are committed to responsible sourcing, ethical production, and creating products that last."
When it comes to technology, Bergans needed a solution that could keep up with their fast-paced, digitally mature environment. "We wanted to own our roadmap without being tied down by platform limitations," says Espen.
Brink Commerce was the perfect fit. "All customization and extension of Brink Commerce functionality is owned by Bergans. Our open and documented APIs enable Bergans to integrate as they see fit," says Kristian Tysander, CEO at Brink Commerce.
Starting with four distinct markets and operating under three legal entities, the new system integrates a suite of best-of-breed components. These range from Ingrid and nShift for shipping, Adyen and Klarna for market-specific payment options, to Business Central as the ERP and inriver for Product Information Management.
Storyblok serves as the Content Management System, while Voyado acts as the Customer Relationship Management tool. User-generated content is managed through Flowbox and Yotpo, and Dreamware handles warehouse functionality.
The ecosystem also includes Findify for search capabilities, Channable for marketplace integration, and Retain24 for gift cards.
This comprehensive setup was built in collaboration with Bergans' agency Flyday and integrator iCore, ensuring a seamless implementation.
“Bergans now has the autonomy to freely select future vendors and adapt solutions according to their unique requirements," says Kristian Tysander, CEO at Brink Commerce.
"Working with a brand with such a rich history and a strong commitment to sustainability is something we're proud of. And we're not just providing a technical solution; we are creating a partnership focused on agility and sustainable choices," Kristian continues.
As Kristian says, the partnership is more than just business; it's a collaboration between companies with similar values. Bergans now has the flexibility to choose vendors, adapt solutions, and, most importantly, focus on what they do best: creating high-quality, sustainable products for the outdoor enthusiast.
